Sejak tahun 2016, rumah sakit Jiwa (RSJ) Cisarua, Jawa Barat menangani ratusan anak setiap bulannya yang mengalami kecanduan smartphone. Tiap bulannya, banyak anak kerap ditangani untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Umumnya, anak yang mengalami kecanduan smartphone memiliki usia antara 7 hingga 12 tahun.



Menurut dr. Lina Budiyanti, sub spesialis kesehatan jiwa anak dan remaja, anak-anak yang masuk RSJ Cisarua umumnya tidak hanya mengalami kecanduan game pada smartphone saja. Ada juga anak-anak yang mengalami kecanduan browsing internet hingga menyaksikan YouTube melalui smartphone. Ya, perubahan gaya hidup pada anak-anak tersebut sebaiknya perlu menjadi perhatian orangtua agar anak tidak alami kecanduan smartphone. Lalu, sebenarnya apa saja dampak kecanduan smartphone pada anak maupun remaja?

Kecanduan Smartphone dapat Sebabkan Gangguan Mental?

Penggunaan smartphone secara berlebihan dapat mengakibatkan gangguan mental. Menurut penelitian yang dilakukan Duke University, Amerika Serikat, anak-anak dan remaja yang banyak menghabiskan waktu mereka dengan bermain smartphone atau bersentuhan dengan teknologi lebih rentan mengalami masalah gangguan perilaku dan gejala attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

ADHD adalah gangguan mental yang menyebabkan seorang anak sulit untuk menfokuskan perhatian dan memiliki perilaku yang impulsif serta agresif. Jika kondisi ini tidak diatasi, gangguan mental ini bisa memengaruhi prestasi anak di sekolah. Anak dengan kondisi ADHD lebih sering terlihat tidak mendengarkan pembicaraan yang dilakukan secara langsung. Selain itu, pengidap ADHD sulit mengatur tugas dan aktivitas yang dijalani.

Anak-anak dengan kondisi ADHD juga terlihat hiperaktif dan tidak bisa diam. Biasanya, mereka lebih senang mengganggu orang lain yang sedang beraktivitas. Jangan ragu untuk lakukan pemeriksaan pada rumah sakit terdekat ketika ibu melihat beberapa gejala yang menjadi tanda dari ADHD pada anak.

Penggunaan smartphone terlalu lama dapat mengurangi kontrol diri dengan baik. Kondisi ini membuat pengidap ADHD kesulitan untuk mengendalikan perilaku dan emosi yang memberikan efek buruk pada kesehatan mental seseorang pecandu smartphone.

Menurut dr Lina Budiyanti, jumlah anak yang mengalami kecanduan smartphone meningkat setiap tahunnya. Kondisi ini disebabkan rasa senang yang muncul ketika bermain smartphone sehingga dapat memunculkan rasa candu.

Orangtua, Lakukan Ini agar Anak Tidak Kecanduan Smartphone

Kemajuan teknologi memang bisa dinikmati oleh siapa saja tidak dibatasi usia, namun sebaiknya peran orangtua menghadapi kemajuan teknologi dibutuhkan untuk mencegah anak mengalami kecanduan smartphone. 

Bukannya melarang anak untuk terbuka dengan teknologi yang sedang berkembang, sebaiknya orangtua memberikan aturan pada anak untuk memperkenalkan teknologi maupun smartphone agar penggunaannya bermanfaat. Sebaiknya ibu lakukan beberapa cara ini agar anak tidak kecanduan smartphone:

Ibu, tidak ada salahnya untuk berikan kegiatan yang menyenangkan pada anak agar anak tidak selalu mencari smartphone. Aktivitas fisik di luar ruangan bisa menjadi pilihan kegiatan yang menyenangkan untuk ibu dan anak. Ajak anak berolahraga seperti bermain bola atau berenang sepertinya bisa menjadi kegiatan menyenangkan yang dapat membuat anak lupa pada smartphone.

2. Orangtua adalah Pemberi Contoh yang Baik

Jika kamu melarang anak untuk terus-menerus bermain dengan smartphone, lakukan hal yang sama agar anak bisa mendapatkan contoh baik yang seharusnya dia lakukan. Tidak hanya itu, orangtua juga menjadi lebih dekat dengan anak ketika fokus pada kegiatan anak.

3. Pembatasan Penggunaan Smartphone

Sebaiknya orangtua melakukan pembatasan waktu untuk menggunakan smartphone, misalkan hanya boleh main smartphone kurang dari 2 jam per hari dan sesudah ia mengerjakan tugasnya. Hal ini disesuaikan oleh setiap masing-masing kondisi anak.
